Installing a Shower

Installing a shower and/or bathtub is not such a hard job which is why there are many people who take it upon themselves to try and do it on their own without any help whatsoever from professionals.
However, there are blunders that are often committed which results to poor construction and the consequent redoing of the job that will cost even more money than the supposed savings.
In order that you will not have to deal with the hassle of having to redo the whole shower/bathtub, there are some things that you need to take very careful note of before, while, and after you are done installing:
· Do not use pipes that are too small or too big. Pay attention to the exact dimensions of the pipes needed for the bathroom.
· Do not violate or ignore the local code restrictions set. They are there for a reason and they have been ascertained by experts in plumbing and construction.
· When installing a shower or bathtub, do not ever attach copper to galvanized iron without using a brass or dielectric fitting.
· Always use PTFE tape or pipe compound at threaded joints.
· Always level your fixtures before installing them so that there will be no lopsided structures.
· Always install air gap filling for shower fixtures.
· Always properly align tubing and pipes.
· Do not forget to release all the debris from the pipes after installation so that they will not cause any problems in the future.
These things will come in handy in installing a shower especially when you are dead set on doing it on your own.
There really is nothing wrong with being self-reliant, but you also have to make sure that you are doing the right thing otherwise you might be looking at years of headache and unnecessary expenses.
